After a plain performance against Sydney in round 18, the Tigers produced arguably their best performance of the season last week when accounting for competition front-runners Hawthorn (107 – 66)

The win, Richmond’s third in the past five weeks and their second against a top four side during that time, sees them occupy seventh spot on the ladder, equal on points with Collingwood who face Sydney (in Sydney) this weekend.

A win here for Richmond, could see them jump another spot to sixth and, given there recent record over Brisbane, who they’ve defeated on the past four occasions the sides have met, by an average of 31 points, there’s a distinct chance of that happening.

The Lions have tried valiantly in the past two months to keep their season alive winning five of their last seven which include victories over Geelong, North and comfortable 31 point win over St. Kilda last week however, still being the three wins outside of the eight, their season is over.

Brisbane will be without Jonathon Brown for the remainder of the season and whilst his didn’t affect Brisbane’s scoring capabilities last week, against a stiffer competition he’ll be a target the Lions will miss.

Richmond, after a brilliant performance last week need to consolidate that win with a similar effort this week and, with another position on the ladder up for grabs, they’ll be too good for Brisbane.
