WHICH KEY INJURED PLAYERS CAN STILL HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE AFL FINALS?
1. RICHMOND
* Dion Prestia (hamstring, test): The premiership midfielder has been restricted to just 10 games this season and the Tigers have been conservative with his latest setback.
* Other notable reinforcements: Trent Cotchin (hamstring, available), David Astbury (achilles, available), Dan Butler (ankle, 1-2 weeks), Kane Lambert (ankle, 1-2 weeks).
2. WEST COAST
* Josh Kennedy (shin, 1 week): The two-time Coleman Medal winner went down in round 18 with a shin injury that has lingered but he should be ready for the first final.
* Other notable reinforcements: Jack Darling (concussion, test), Will Schofield (hamstring, test).
3. COLLINGWOOD
* Adam Treloar (hamstring, 4-5 weeks): The star midfielder has been given the green light by his surgeon to ramp up his training load. He’s been out since round 14 but Nathan Buckley hasn’t ruled out playing him in the first final.
* Other notable reinforcements: Tyson Goldsack (back, test), Jeremy Howe (corked thigh, 1 week), Darcy Moore (hamstring, 1-2 weeks).
4. HAWTHORN
* James Sicily (wrist, 2 weeks): Out since round 17 when he fractured a scaphoid, the star defender’s exact return date remains unclear but he is in the frame for the first weekend of the finals.
* Other notable reinforcements: Grant Birchall (knee, 1 week), Jon Ceglar (calf, test), Ricky Henderson (hip, test), Will Langford (hamstring, 2 weeks).
5. SYDNEY SWANS
* Sam Reid (Achilles, 1-2 weeks): The key forward played just one AFL game this year (in round three) but is still a chance to return after Achilles surgery. Could be a finals wildcard.
* Other notable reinforcements: Gary Rohan (hand, available), Harry Marsh (hamstring, 1 week), Nick Smith (hamstring, 5 weeks), Lewis Melican (hamstring, 2-3 weeks).
6. GWS GIANTS
* Toby Greene (hamstring, 1 week): It’s been a tough year for the combative forward but he’s still capable of turning a game off his own boot. He should be ready to resume in week one of the finals.
* Other notable reinforcements: Aidan Corr (groin, 1 week), Matt de Boer (hamstring, 1 week), Brett Deledio (calf, 1 week), Ryan Griffen (hamstring, test), Dawson Simpson (ankle, 6 weeks).
7. MELBOURNE
* Jack Viney (toe, 2 weeks): The midfield bull hasn’t played since round 16 with complications from an ongoing foot injury. He came back too quickly last year but has declared himself ready to go for the Demons’ first final since 2006.
* Other notable reinforcements: Jayden Hunt (ankle, test), Joel Smith (collarbone, test), Bernie Vince (AC joint, 4-6 weeks).
8. GEELONG
* Rhys Stanley (calf, 1-2 weeks): The ruckman found some good form before he was struck down by a calf injury in round 19 that flared again in round 21.
* Other notable reinforcements: Jed Bews (shoulder, test), Esava Ratugolea (ankle, test).
9. PORT ADELAIDE
* The Power need a miracle to play finals and Tom Clurey (foot, 3-4 weeks) is about the only key player they might get back.
