Collingwood defender Ben Reid is available for Saturday night’s AFL clash against Sydney but coach Nathan Buckley isn’t about to give him the sole job of trying to restrict returning Swans superstar Lance Franklin.
Reid has been nursed through pre-season training with a calf issue but is in a position to push for selection for round one as he attempts to put two injury-riddled seasons behind him.
Franklin is returning to the field after he missed Sydney’s finals campaign to seek treatment for a mental health issue, and Buckley on Tuesday said Reid would be one of a number of Magpies defenders charged with curbing the star forward’s influence.
