Positive report on Wells’ AFL return

North Melbourne midfielder Daniel Wells could be back from injury to face Fremantle after receiving positive reports during a state league run.

Wells hasn’t played since round two, requiring surgery on his achilles tendon, and on Saturday lined up for North Ballarat in the VFL against Collingwood.

Speaking after the Kangaroos win over St Kilda in Hobart, coach Brad Scott said the news about Wells is good.

“We slated him to play a half and I think he had a 12-possession third quarter, which was his first quarter,” Scott told reporters of Wells’s VFL appearance.

“(He) copped a couple of bumps, bruises and came back on.

“And the feedback I’ve had was everything about his performance and the bumps and bruises, nothing about the achilles.”

Scott has previously said the 30-year old must first play in the VFL and pull up alright, before returning to the senior side.
