Port’s Hinkley named AFL coach of the year

Port Adelaide’s Ken Hinkley has been named coach of the year by the AFL Coaches Association.

Hinkley, in his first season as a head coach, oversaw Port’s rise from 14th spot last season to a losing semi-final.

The 46-year-old was overlooked for head coaching jobs at Geelong, Richmond and St Kilda before being appointed by Port.
