Port Adelaide are phasing out the embarrassing seat covers used at their AFL home games.
Port introduced the covers at AAMI Stadium three years ago as their crowds dwindled.
Whole bays of seats were covered by the large sponsorship logos, but they became an eyesore that only served to highlight the lower attendances.
“There are a couple that we are contracted to for this season, so we’ve got to keep them there,” Koch told the AFL website.
“But we are going to take away the seat covers.
“We want people to come to the footy and our membership is really giving us a lot of confidence in that regard.”
The mood at Alberton is buoyant in the wake of widespread changes late last year.
Koch, coach Ken Hinkley and captain Travis Boak are all new appointments.
Port have declined dramatically on and off the field since their record loss to Geelong in the 2007 grand final.
That was the Power’s most recent finals appearance and they finished 14th last season.
On Tuesday, the Power were at the MCG to announce a multi-million deal with car giant Renault.
Koch said membership was up more than 10 per cent on this time last year and they are hopeful of a figure in the high 30,000s.
