After beating St. Kilda by 5, Brisbane by 9 and Adelaide by 4 in recent weeks, Port were again tenacious last week against Geelong, albeit ending up this time on the wrong side of the ledger.
The 25 point loss to Geelong was a competitive one and made Port only the second team in the past eleven weeks to break the 100 point mark against the Cats.
Sitting eighth on the ladder and with two wins over the ninth placed Carlton to spare, Port play Fremantle and ironically Carlton, in the last two weeks of the competition and can ill-afford to drop this game.
When they last met in round 4 this year, Port registered a comfortable 38 point win.
Gold Coast have posted six wins since that game though and have certainly grown as a team and club throughout this year.
If they can work on their consistency, we should see this number of games again next year.
They’ll need Ablett to again produce an outstanding effort and to provide the basis of their game if they are to worry Port who have won six of their nine home games this year.
Their in tough form Port and at home, will prevail over the Suns.
