The first of three games scheduled for Sunday sees Port hosting Brisbane.
In rounds 13 and 14, Port accounted for Sydney and Collingwood before, in what was a very tough month for the Adelaide side, they found Essendon (round 15) and Hawthorn (round 16) too strong.
However, the earlier wins plus one last week over St. Kilda (97 – 92) sees Port hold eighth spot on the ladder but they need to keep winning with Carlton only one win behind them.
It’s be an excellent year for Port given their performances and tumultuous season of 2012 and with the finals now within their reach, they’ll be determined to make the final eight.
Brisbane made it four wins from their past five matches when defeating Melbourne in Darwin last week. Among their other wins during this period were the prized scalps of Geelong and North, both with outstanding come-from-behind-victories.
They head to Adelaide in a solid form and, given their record of four wins over Port in their last four matches, a full strength Brisbane side at an early quote of $2.75 would create some interest however, the loss of Brown and Black for Brisbane is vital.
Combined with the fact that Port have more to play for, are five from eight at home this season compared to Brisbane’s away record of three and five, that should be enough to see them home here.
