Plunge on Roos to be new Demons AFL coach

Punters have plunged on Paul Roos taking over as the new coach of AFL club Melbourne in 2014.

Centrebet slashed the odds on Roos becoming the Demons’ coach from $7 on Friday to $1.80 on Monday.

Sydney’s 2005 premiership-winning coach was also backed in from $7 to $1.80 at Sportingbet and $5 to $2 at Sportsbet.

Former Port Adelaide coach and current Richmond assistant Mark Williams is the second favourite.

The Demons have a 2-11 win-loss record this season, having dumped Mark Neeld as coach two weeks ago.

Interim coach Neil Craig boasts a 1-1 record including a three-point victory over the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night.

Craig and Rodney Eade, the former Western Bulldogs coach who is now an assistant at Collingwood, are next in the betting behind Roos and Williams.
