Collingwood favourite Alan Didak hopes he can find a new AFL home after he was among six players shown the door by the Magpies.
The 30-year-old, fellow 2010 premiership team member Darren Jolly and Andrew Krakouer lead a list of six players cut from the Magpies’ list.
Carlton recruit Jordan Russell and rookie-listed players Ben Richmond and Michael Hartley were also delisted.
There is ongoing speculation about the future of Collingwood star Dale Thomas, who is about to become a free agent.
The Magpies are negotiating with his management and it is known Carlton are interested in the midfielder.
Collingwood’s season ended on Saturday night with the upset elimination final loss to Port Adelaide.
Didak was their sub in that match and helped set up two goals at the start of the last term.
“I’ve had an incredible time at Collingwood,” Didak said on the club’s website.
“We won a lot of games, won a premiership and I met some lifelong friends.’
“I’ve got a lot to be thankful for and I know I’m going to miss playing in front of the black and white army – I owe them a lot.
“But I’m not ready for retirement – the ride has another lap or two to go, I hope.”
Didak was at Collingwood for 13 seasons and the small forward played 218 senior games.
He was a two-time All Australian and won the club’s best and fairest award once, but injury restricted him to only 16 games in the last two seasons.
Jolly joined Collingwood at the end of 2009 after starting at Melbourne and then playing in Sydney’s 2005 premiership side.
He was crucial to the Magpies winning the 2010 premiership and played 71 games at the club for a career total of 237.
Krakouer started in the AFL at Richmond, but his career appeared over when he was jailed in WA for assault.
But after his release he made an outstanding return in the WAFL and Collingwood recruited him in late 2010.
Krakouer needed a knee reconstruction last year, but he played 35 games for the Magpies and 102 for the Tigers.
