Pies, Bomber fined for Anzac Day melee

Four players have been fined for their part in a melee during the Anzac Day blockbuster between Essendon and Collingwood.

Magpies Marley Williams, Jack Frost and Jackson Ramsay and Bombers forward Joe Daniher can each accept $1000 fines for the heated clash during the second quarter at the MCG.

It was a first offence for all four players, who risk a $1500 fine if they take their case to the tribunal and lose.

Fremantle’s Matt de Boer and West Coast’s Nic Naitanui were the only other players to run foul of the AFL match review panel after its assessment of round four action.

De Boer can accept a $1000 fine for striking Sydney’s Harry Cunningham and Naitanui can also accept a $1000 fine for tripping Brisbane’s Jack Redden.

Incidents involving the Lions’ Daniel Rich and Gold Coast’s Dion Prestia were assessed with the panel finding neither player had a case to answer.
