Pedersen and Gysberts swap AFL clubs

Melbourne have continued to be active in the AFL trade period, snaring North Melbourne key position player Cam Pedersen in exchange for Demons utility Jordie Gysberts.

The deal will also involve a swap of late-round draft picks to be finalised at the conclusion of the trade period at 1400 (AEDT) on Friday.

Pedersen, 25, played 14 games for the Kangaroos in 2011, but could only manage two senior appearances this year.

The ruck-forward won the best and fairest award for North Melbourne’s VFL affiliates Werribee in 2012.

The Demons have also recruited Chris Dawes (from Collingwood), Shannon Byrnes (Geelong) and David Rodan (Port Adelaide) in the free agency/draft period.

Gysberts played 19 games for the Demons, but only one of those was in the 2012 campaign.

In another deal completed early on Friday, Richmond snared key forward Aaron Edwards from North Melbourne for a late-round draft pick.

Edwards, 28, played 82 games for West Coast and the Kangaroos.
