North’s McDonald wins AFL nomination

The good news continues for North Melbourne with father-son selection Luke McDonald winning the latest AFL Rising Star nomination.

The son of North official and former player Donald McDonald debuted in round one and has played every game.

McDonald impressed again in Sunday’s 43-point win over Sydney at the SCG, racking up 20 possessions and five marks.

“Luke has been a complete professional in the way he has gone about his football since arriving at North Melbourne,” said coach Brad Scott.

“He has worked extremely hard to get to where he is now and that diligence has paid off as it’s shown in the first few rounds of his AFL career.”

McDonald, 19, is North’s first Rising Star nomination since Aaron Mullett in round two last season.
