North Melbourne’s games record-holder Brent Harvey joins an elite club on Sunday when he plays his 350th AFL match.
The 35-year-old forward/midfielder is set to become the 13th player in the league’s history to reach the landmark.
Harvey and Essendon’s 38-year-old defender Dustin Fletcher are yet to rule out having a crack at putting their names alongside Michael Tuck and Kevin Bartlett in the 400-club.
Five-time Kangaroos’ club champion Harvey has kicked four goals this season and is averaging 22 disposals in three games after completing a six-match suspension from North’s elimination-final loss to West Coast in 2012.
The only premiership player on North’s list says he’s determined to continue providing on-field leadership until eventually retiring and considering a possible venture into coaching.
Harvey said in a News Limited interview earlier this month he enjoyed sitting in the coaches’ box with senior coach Brad Scott and his assistants.
“But in saying that, I still think I’ve got a fair bit of footy ahead of me. So I haven’t really thought about it too much,” the former North skipper said.
The 2007 Brownlow Medal runner-up and four-time All-Australian will be sharing the spotlight with 200-gamer Daniel Wells for North in Sunday’s clash against 15th-placed St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.
North sit 13th on the ladder following their fourth loss by under a goal this season after coughing up a five-goal lead in the final term to lose by a point against Adelaide in round nine.
