The AFL will not be handing extra draft picks to cellar dweller clubs Carlton and Brisbane.
The AFL Commission has ruled against awarding priority picks to either club despite both ending the season with just four wins.
AFL football boss Mark Evans and general counsel Andrew Dillon’s recommendation that the clubs’ plights didn’t warrant “exceptional circumstances”, as mandated by the AFL’s special assistance rule, was accepted by the commission.
Carlton, which won an elimination final just two seasons ago, were derided for its application for a priority pick.
