Hawthorn veteran Sam Mitchell has signed a new contract with the reigning premiers that could close out his outstanding AFL career.
The AFL website is reporting that the 32-year-old will keep playing next season on a new one-year deal.
Mitchell, who debuted with Hawthorn in 2002, has played 261 games.
The midfielder and half-back was a key member of their 2008, 2013 and 2014 premiership teams.
