Preview:
The Demons take on West Coast on Sunday, 3.20pm at the MCG. The Eagles will be big favourites to win this one, with the Demons not likely to turn any sharp corners just yet. West Coast had a great start to the 2014 season, and will want to keep the momentum going this round. In contrast, the Demons lost to St Kilda in round 1, kicking just six goals against the Saints in an underdone side without Mitch Clark, Jesse Hogan, Chris Dawes, and Jack Fitzpatrick.
In contrast, West Coast’s new mentor Adam Simpson had a great start to 2014 against the Western Bulldogs, and his winning run is likely to continue for at least another week. While Paul Roos has been urging the Demons supporters to keep the faith, this week looks like yet another loss they will have to endure.

News:
New West Coast coach Adam Simpson doesn’t mind a game of table tennis, but don’t try bringing ping pong tactics out onto the footy field.
The Eagles opened their AFL season in grand style with a 65-point win over the Bulldogs in Perth last week.
Simpson was thrilled that his team only conceded five goals in the first three quarters.
But he was less than impressed with the final term, when West Coast kicked eight goals but also conceded six.
The Eagles are expected to rack up another big score in Sunday’s clash with Melbourne at the MCG, but Simpson doesn’t want to see another shootout.
“It was ping pong up and back, and I don’t think we want to play that way,” Simpson said of the final quarter against the Bulldogs.
“We had really good defensive actions for the first three quarters, and then the last quarter we lost a bit of control with the game.
“It was disappointing.”
The Demons will be aiming to bounce back after booting 6.15 in their 17-point loss to St Kilda.
New Melbourne coach Paul Roos believes his players would perform better without the pressure of a scoreboard in view, but Simpson isn’t so keen on the concept.
“We need to find out if we’re going to win or not,” Simpson said.
The Eagles have loaded up on talls in attack, with the three-man ruck team of Nic Naitanui, Dean Cox and Callum Sinclair set to help out spearheads Jack Darling and Josh Kennedy.
In contrast, Melbourne’s key forwards Mitch Clark, Chris Dawes and Jesse Hogan are all injured.
West Coast are hot favourites to beat the Demons, but Simpson isn’t taking anything for granted against a side coached by Roos.
“They’ve got some really good midfield strength,” Simpson said.
“They’ve missed some opportunities on the scoreboard – they had more scoring shots than the Saints.
“It tells you that they’re doing a lot of things right and it won’t take much for them to click.”
