Melbourne continues to exceed expectations and can edge even closer to a finals berth with victory over Richmond at the MCG. The Demons were dominant for long periods against Hawthorn last week, with Max Gawn controlling the ruck while Jacob van Rooyen and Bayley Fritsch combined for 10 goals. Richmond, however, produced one of its better performances of the season in a narrow loss to Carlton, winning clearances and competing strongly around the contest.
