There is no indication Port Adelaide footballer John McCarthy died from foul play, a Las Vegas coroner says.
Clark County Coroner Mike Murphy said he did not believe the 22-year-old died of natural causes or as a result of anyone else being involved.
“There’s nothing that indicates this is a homicide so now we’re investigating this as either an accident or a possible suicide,” Mr Murphy told AAP on Tuesday morning.
“At this time there is no indication that there was any foul play.
“Certainly it’s suspicious from the idea that you have a healthy individual that fell 30 feet off a roof, so we’re investigating that.”
McCarthy fell from a roof at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas and was found on the driveway about 5.40am on Sunday, Las Vegas time.
Mr Murphy stressed that he was not saying it was a suicide.
“I have not been quoted, nor have I come out and said it was a suicide,” he said.
“I’m not saying that, I’m saying it’s being investigated.”
