Hawthorn’s AFL qualifying final win over Collingwood will keep the match review panel busy, with one report lodged already and at least two incidents facing scrutiny.
Magpies captain Nick Maxwell was booked for rough conduct in the third term of Friday night’s rugged match after opponent Paul Puopolo had to leave the field with a blood nose.
A video replay showed the pair clashing well off the ball.
As trainers helped him from the field, Puopolo turned around a couple of times to point angrily at Maxwell.
The young Hawks forward was able to play out the match.
Down-the-ground footage showed Hawks ruck-forward Jarryd Roughead bumping Collingwood Chris Dawes well off the ball in the first quarter.
A similar incident in round 23 earned Geelong star Steve Johnson a one-week ban, ruling him out of Saturday night’s elimination final against Fremantle.
Geelong reluctantly decided not to take Johnson’s case to the tribunal.
His carryover points meant if they went to the tribunal and lost, Johnson would be out for two weeks.
Roughead and Maxwell have clean tribunal records.
Collingwood key defender Chris Tarrant had a couple of clashes with opponent Lance Franklin early in the match and they are certain to be reviewed.
At one point, Tarrant appeared to make solid contact with Franklin’s midriff, although the Hawks star later said there was nothing untoward in their physical duel.
