Collingwood captain Nick Maxwell won’t play again this season unless the Magpies advance to the AFL grand final after accepting a two-match rough conduct ban.

Maxwell risked being sidelined for three matches had he unsuccessfully challenged the level three charge at the AFL Tribunal.

He was reported for an off-the-ball incident involving Hawthorn’s Paul Puopolo in the third quarter of Friday’s qualifying final.

Maxwell will miss Saturday’s semi-final against West Coast and the preliminary final – if the Magpies advance that far.

West Coast forward Quinten Lynch will front the tribunal on Tuesday night in a bid to play in Saturday’s knockout clash against the Magpies.

Lynch’s one-match ban could not have been be lowered to a reprimand with an early guilty plea.

North Melbourne forward Brent Harvey will also appear before the tribunal to challenge two charges emanating from Sunday’s elimination final loss to West Coast.

Harvey could have accepted a four-match ban with early guilty pleas to striking Eagles pair Adam Selwood and Daniel Kerr.

He could be banned for six matches if the tribunal upholds both cases.

Any ban imposed on Harvey would be served at the start of the 2013 season.
