Matthews quits AFL All-Australian role

AFL Hall of Fame Legend Leigh Matthews has quit his role as selector for the annual All-Australian team.

Matthews, 60, said on Thursday he wanted to scale back his time on AFL committees.

The former Hawthorn star, who coached three premiership sides at Brisbane and one at Collingwood, will remain as a member of the Laws Of The Game committee.

Former All Australian selector and 1988 Brownlow medallist Gerard Healy will fill Matthews’ role on the All-Australian committee until the end of the season.

The All Australian selection panel also includes Adrian Anderson, Kevin Bartlett, Luke Darcy, Danny Frawley, Glen Jakovich, Mark Ricciuto and AFL chief Andrew Demetriou as chairman.
