Collingwood have been unable to punish fans who racially abused Carlton player Chris Yarran during last Sunday’s AFL match at the MCG.
The Magpies launched an investigation this week after receiving complaints from members about the insults.
But Collingwood say they cannot be certain who was responsible.
“While there is no footage of the incident, it has been established that one or more individuals used language during the game that was abhorrent, which racially vilified the Carlton player and offended many members of the crowd,” the club said.
“Unfortunately, while the club has established that inappropriate behaviour occurred, it has been unable to get a consistent summary of the incident to clearly identify a culprit that the club could hold to account.”
Club chief executive Gary Pert has asked fans to provide specific seat details of anyone who makes such insults.
“It is the seat details that allows the stadium and the club to accurately prosecute any such incidents,” he said.
