Longmire calls for security review

Sydney Swans coach John Longmire says it’s sad and a shame that post-game security for AFL coaches needs to be looked at, after the incident in Adelaide last weekend involving Hawthorn mentor Alastair Clarkson.

Longmire’s former North Melbourne teammate Clarkson was captured on a video pushing a fan forcefully after the man made body contact with him on his walk back to the team hotel on Saturday night.

“On match days when you’re actually at the ground (security for coaches ) is pretty good, there’s terrific security supplied by the AFL and the grounds,” Longmire said on Monday.

“But once the siren goes and you’re with your family or you’re walking across to your car and you want to get going, that needs to be looked at, which is a bit of a shame.”
