Lions re-sign Rich in AFL

The Brisbane Lions have confirmed vice-captain Daniel Rich has re-signed with the AFL club until the end of the 2016 season.

It is another shot in the arm for the last-round shock winners over Geelong which recently re-signed fellow young guns Matthew Leuenberger and Dayne Zorko on extended deals.

It is believed Rich, 23, knocked back interest from the likes of West Coast, Fremantle and Greater Western Sydney to remain in Brisbane.

After re-signing the 2009 Rising Star winner, the Lions’ next target will be Irishman Pearce Hanley.

In an encouraging sign for Brisbane, Hanley is represented by the same player manager, Paul Connors, as Rich and Leuenberger.
