Lions’ Golby to face AFL panel scrutiny

Brisbane’s AFL pre-season title could have an unpleasant aftermath, with defender Mitch Golby certain to come under match review panel scrutiny.

Golby was caught on camera having a swing at new Carlton captain Marc Murphy during Friday night’s pre-season cup final, which the Lions won by 40 points.

The panel could well let off Golby by ruling the contact did not have enough force to warrant a striking charge.

Hawthorn ruckman David Hale and North Melbourne recruit Taylor Hine are already facing forceful front-on contact charges following Saturday’s scratch match at Craigieburn.

The panel will probably clear Hale, who appeared to have an accidental clash of heads with Leigh Adams as they went for a ground ball.

Adams, by far the smaller of the two players, went to ground and was left stunned by the contact.

But he was able to play out the match.

Hine, recruited from Gold Coast through last year’s national draft, appears to in much more trouble for his high contact with forward Jack Gunston.
