Lions can avoid AFL spoon, says Zorko

Brisbane midfielder Dayne Zorko says his side can still avoid the AFL wooden spoon despite arguably the toughest run home of any club.

The Lions are now off the bottom of the ladder after Saturday’s drought-breaking win over Carlton, but they take on Adelaide, Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs in the final three rounds and can still slip back down if they are beaten heavily in all three.

Zorko said the Lions could very well surprise one of them, having grown in confidence as a group following their big win at the weekend, which snapped an 11-game losing streak.

“Never say never – hopefully we are able to pinch a win along the way, which would be good for the morale of the boys,” he said.
