Long-kicking Brisbane have won the last of the AFLX tournaments with a 67-41 victory over Sydney in Saturday’s grand final at Allianz Stadium.
Daniel Rich, Tom Cutler and Zac Bailey had Brisbane off to a flying start in the decider in Sydney, kicking 10-point goals, as they charged to a 34-2 lead and were up 34-8 at halftime.
Another long-distance bomb early in the second half put the Lions out to a 44-8 lead.
James Rose and Dean Towers kicked back-to-back 10-pointers as Sydney came back to within 16 points.
A crowd of 9892, the lowest of the three tournaments, attended the Sydney leg of the fledgling competition.
Sydney and Brisbane topped their pools with 2-0 records.
Reigning AFL premiers Richmond finished at 1-1.
