Brisbane Lion Sam Mayes has been named round 12’s AFL Rising Star nominee.
Mayes was among Brisbane’s best in their loss to Fremantle on Saturday at Patersons Stadium.
He collected 25 possessions – 15 kicks, 10 handballs and seven marks.
The 19-year-old, from Port Pirie in South Australia, was taken by Brisbane at No.8, in the 2012 national draft.
He made his AFL debut against the Gold Coast in round three and has now played seven games.
