The Brisbane Lions have suffered a blow with veteran utility Ash McGrath ruled out for the rest of the AFL season with a hamstring injury.
McGrath will undergo surgery on Wednesday after tests confirmed damage to his hamstring tendon in the 61-point win against Melbourne on July 1.
“Ash is a very experienced player that can play forward or back so it’s very disappointing that he’ll miss the rest of the season,” said Brisbane’s football operations manager Dean Warren.
“After performing multiple scans and consulting the experts in this area, we have decided to perform surgery on the injured tendon, to give him the best chance of a full recovery and to be ready for the commencement of the pre-season.”
