Koschitzke stranded on 200 AFL games

A calf injury has raised fresh doubts about St Kilda veteran Justin Koschitzke reaching his 200-game AFL milestone.

The 30-year-old has played four games this season and is stranded on 199.

Koschitzke is a remote chance to continue next season.

He was left out of last weekend’s away match against Fremantle because of soreness and then suffered the calf injury at training.

Coach Scott Watters acknowledges that the ruck-forward is running out of time to reach his milestone this season.

“It will be (close) – so stay tuned, we’ll see how that unfolds,” Watters said.

“It’s looking like a three to four-week injury, so he’s just got to work really hard now at getting himself back in the frame now for selection.

“We’re not going to gift games to any player on the list and he certainly doesn’t want a game gifted his way, either.

“He’ll fight back … hopefully, as a club, we can get him to his 200th game.”
