Collingwood ruckman Darren Jolly will miss Sunday’s AFL match against Hawthorn because of his rib injury.
Jolly did not train on Thursday after he was hurt early in Sunday’s win over Carlton.
He suffered rib cartilage damage and briefly went to hospital.
Coach Nathan Buckley confirmed the Magpies’ No.1 ruckman would not play, with veteran Ben Hudson or youngster Jarrod Witts to take his place.
“He won’t come up, he’s sore … he’s still mitigating pain,” Buckley said of the two-time premiership player.
But on-baller Dale Thomas will return to the team for his first senior game this season after recovering from ankle surgery.
Thursday morning’s run was Collingwood’s first session at their new Olympic Park training ground, across the road from the MCG.
A big crowd of Magpies’ fans was at the oval, which is on the site of the old Olympic Park athletics track and is next to Collingwood’s headquarters.
