Johnson hopes to miss just a week for Cats

A calf injury meant Geelong’s star midfielder Steve Johnson was a shock late withdrawal for the Cats’ round-eight AFL clash with Collingwood at the MCG.

Johnson had trained during the week but was ruled out on Saturday night because of calf soreness.

The 29-year-old triple-premiership player says he hopes to return for next week’s away game against Port Adelaide.

Josh Caddy replaced Johnson in the team.

“Very disappointed I can’t play tonight…,” Johnson said on Twitter.

“Hope the boys can keep the form up! Hopefully back next week!!”

Johnson has been in tremendous form. The triple All-Australian is averaging 29 disposals in five games this season.
