Jetta back to what he does best

Sydney excitement machine Lewis Jetta says he got back to what he does best Friday night with a couple of trademark magic moments helping to carry the Swans to the grand final and get him out of a form slump.

The Swans leading goalkicker this season, Jetta kicked three against the Magpies, two of them genuine highlight reel moments, to boost his tally for the season to 45.

He admitted it was the most impact he had had on a game for a while after tailing off in the latter rounds.

“I had a bit of a quiet last four weeks of the season and against Adelaide (in the qualifying final), I got some rhythm back,” Jetta said.

“This game I got back to what I’m good at, running and carrying.”

One of the more contentious omissions from the All-Australian team, Jetta wasn’t upset at being overlooked.

“I wasn’t really that disappointed, it’s just an individual award,” Jetta said.

“I prefer a (premiership) medallion around my neck, that’s even bigger, that’s what I’m focusing on this week.”

In the first quarter, the 23-year-old West Australian bounced the ball three times and burnt off Collingwood chasers to notch his first goal.

“As soon as I grabbed it, I just looked up and there was a paddock and I said ‘yes!'” Jetta said.

“I sort of wanted to smile but I just knuckled down and took off.

“The first three steps I just heard the crowd and they got excited and I just put the after burners on.

“I was shouting out to my team mates and they couldn’t even hear me and I was only a couple of metres away, it was that loud.”

His next goal in the second quarter also galvanised the crowd, as he swooped on a ball that bounced nicely for him and goaled from almost 50 metres with the outside of his foot.

“I’ve been practising that a lot before training,” Jetta revealed.

He added another goal in the second half and was given a huge ovation by the Swans faithful when he was rested immediately after kicking both his second and third majors.
