I’m the right man to coach Dockers: Lyon

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon has laughed off calls for his head, declaring he is the best man to lead the AFL club forward.

Dockers fans have been quick to vent their anger in the wake of Saturday’s 91-point derby loss to West Coast, with some calling for Lyon to be sacked.

Lyon is contracted until the end of next year and is keen to stay on as coach even beyond then.

Three losses on the trot have left Fremantle’s finals hopes on thin ice.

The nature of the recent losses to Carlton and the Eagles have raised major concerns.

But Lyon believes he remains the Dockers’ best coaching option and had a chuckle when told that some fans were calling for him to be sacked.

“That’s fine. I’m fully committed. I believe I’m the man for the job,” Lyon told channel 7.

“We’ve really improved our football. I’ve been hearing that (sacking calls) since I first coached round one at St Kilda in 2007, even after a victory.”

Fremantle face Hawthorn in a crunch clash in Launceston on Saturday.
