Hub a positive for hurting Crows: Lynch

Adelaide forward Tom Lynch says entering a Queensland hub is a bonus for the Crows as they seek to regroup from a record AFL loss to Port Adelaide.

After a 75-point belting from Port, the Crows will depart on Saturday for their Gold Coast hub where they will play their next three games.

“This (hub) is a really positive one,” Lynch told reporters on Monday.

“The club being so close … getting away together and spending time together, it’s going to be one where we can bond and improve those relationships.

“But at the same time we have got to turn around our football performance.”

The winless Crows will stay at the same Gold Coast golf resort as the unbeaten Power, who also play their next three matches in Queensland.

Current coronavirus protocols in South Australia mean the clubs can’t fly in and out for games with spending 14-days in isolation on return to the state.

Lynch said the Crows were steeling themselves after their horrid loss in the Showdown, which Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks labelled embarrassing.

“A lot went wrong,” he said.

“We certainly didn’t play the brand of footy that we wanted to dish up.

“I’m extremely confident in the group and we’re developing in terms of getting used to the game plan and making sure the guys are improving.

“We have got some work to do this week.

“That is not the brand of footy what we expect, we’re a better football club than that.”

Lynch expected captain Rory Sloane to recover from a corked thigh and play against Gold Coast on Sunday while defender Jake Kelly (concussion) will be tested later in the week.
