Hawthorn AFL captain Luke Hodge will make a $5000 donation to a road safety charity after being caught drink-driving.
Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson said the club’s leadership group made the decision in a meeting after Saturday’s 57-point win over Carlton at the MCG.
Hodge blew .068 after a Thursday night poker session, meaning a $450 fine and the loss of 10 demerit points.
“We’re satisfied as a footy club – given what he’s given to our club, what he’s given to the game, the shame he’s had to endure … and also his remorse.”
