Gold Coast assistant Ken Hinkley is firming as the favourite for the Port Adelaide senior coaching job after AFL veteran Rodney Eade again ruled himself out.
It is understood that Port made contact with Eade’s management on Wednesday after Leon Cameron decided to join Greater Western Sydney.
But after some discussions, Eade apparently again said he would stay at Collingwood as their coaching director.
Eade and sacked Carlton coach Brett Ratten ruled themselves out of the Port job last month.
The Power are keen to announce their new coach within the next few days.
They finished 14th this season and are struggling financially.
Also on Wednesday, they decided to let Danyle Pearce go to Fremantle under the league’s new free agency system.
