News :

A sore Nat Fyfe is set to play in Saturday’s clash with Richmond at the MCG, but Fremantle were prepared to make a late change.

Fyfe is yet to fully overcome the corked thigh he suffered a fortnight ago, with the 23-year-old spending time away from the main training group on Thursday.

Defender Lee Spurr was also on light duties before Thursday’s training session went behind closed doors, but both he and Fyfe flew with the team to Melbourne later in the day.

Emergencies Zac Clarke, Zac Dawson and Lachie Weller have all been taken across to Melbourne, giving coach Ross Lyon plenty of options should anyone be a late scratching.

The only change to Fremantle’s team so far is Clancee Pearce replacing goalsneak Hayden Ballantyne, who has been ruled out for at least seven weeks because of a torn pectoral.

Ballantyne underwent surgery earlier this week and Lyon said the procedure went well.

“There were some things that went to our advantage in that it was a really clean tear,” Lyon said.

“The reattachment went really, really well. There wasn’t a lot of damage.

“The surgeon said, ‘We’ll allow you back in a minimum period of time’. So we’re really optimistic. But again, you’ve just got to let it run its course.”

The fifth-placed Tigers recalled forward/ruckman Ben Griffiths and Sam Lloyd for Nathan Gordon (dropped) and Matt McDonough (dropped).

Meanwhile, Lyon was quick to share a joke when asked whether the club was interested in luring Sydney speedster Lewis Jetta their way.

Jetta’s current deal at the Swans runs out at the end of the season, and he’s considering a move home to Western Australia.

“Yeah, I was unaware, but we’ve got COLA (Cost of Living Allowance) given to us as well,” Lyon joked.

“Everyone who is out of contract is coming.

“It’s fantastic.

“I understand the question because he’s ex-WA.
