Hawks’ Whitecross cleared by AFL

The AFL tribunal has found Hawthorn forward Brendan Whitecross not guilty of a rough conduct charge, leaving him free to play against Adelaide on Sunday at the MCG.

The match review panel charged Whitecross after his collision with Joel Selwood on Monday left the Geelong captain groggy.

Whitecross could have taken a one match suspension, but risked a two game ban by going to the tribunal.

The tribunal deliberated for ten minutes before finding in Whitecross’s favour.

They were not satisfied the contact was a bump rather than just an accidental collision.
