Hawthorn remain unsure whether forward Jack Gunston will recover in time for Friday night’s AFL preliminary final against Fremantle.
Gunston missed last weekend’s semi-final win over Adelaide with an ankle injury and was not in a group of six players who flew to Perth on Wednesday, a day ahead of their teammates.
Back-up ruckman Jonathon Ceglar was in the group, along with captain Luke Hodge, Jordan Lewis, Shaun Burgoyne, Isaac Smith and Jarryd Roughead.
The Hawks also flew Smith across a day early for the qualifying final loss to West Coast as part of his speedy recovery from a knee injury.
“He (Gunston) is in the bracket of seeing how he pulled up today and they’ll obviously test him,” Lewis said at the airport.
