Hawks’ Osborne out for AFL season

Michael Osborne’s AFL season is over after the Hawks announced on Tuesday that the forward would undergo a traditional knee reconstruction.

The Hawks said scans showed Osborne sustained a high-grade but incomplete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament and lateral ligament in his left knee in a tackle in last week’s round-seven clash with Melbourne.

“While it’s extremely disappointing for Michael, his commitment and dedication to a strong rehabilitation is first class,” Hawthorn’s football operations general manager Mark Evans said.

Skipper Luke Hodge (knee) and defender Josh Gibson (ankle) face fitness tests this week ahead of Saturday’s game in Launceston against Fremantle.
