Hawks, Geelong stars back for AFL round 3

Hawthorn stars Josh Gibson and Sam Mitchell will return for Sunday’s AFL clash with the Western Bulldogs in Launceston.

The Hawks included the veterans in their side on Thursday, with James Frawley (pectoral) and Jono O’Rourke cut from the team that lost to Essendon in round two.

Geelong will also be bolstered by the return of two of their best players, with Jimmy Bartel and Steven Motlop back for Sunday’s match against Gold Coast.

Meanwhile, Sydney confirmed Harry Cunningham will take Adam Goodes’ place in their line-up for Saturday’s cross-town derby against Greater Western Sydney.

The Swans have named Ben McGlynn, who has recovered from a hamstring injury, as an emergency.

The Giants promoted ruckman Andrew Phillips in place of injured forward Adam Tomlinson.
