Hawthorn have dropped ruckman Max Bailey as star forwards Lance Franklin and Jarryd Roughead return from injury for Sunday’s AFL match against Gold Coast at the MCG.
Franklin missed five games with a hamstring injury while Roughead is back from an ankle complaint and midfielder Liam Shiels returns from suspension.
Tall defender Josh Gibson (ankle) and speedy forward Cyril Rioli (shoulder) were the forced omissions.
Bailey was squeezed out as the Hawks juggle a wealth of ruck and tall forward options, with Franklin and Roughead joining David Hale and Jack Gunston.
Bailey has played just two AFL games this season, returning from a long-term wrist injury in round 18, then being forced out by illness the following weekend, before playing last round against Port Adelaide.
But the 25-year-old is yet to play when both Hale and Roughead are in the side.
The Suns made five forced changes, losing David Swallow, Liam Patrick, Jackson Allen and Aaron Hall to injury and Trent McKenzie to a club-imposed suspension.
Sydney regained key forward Sam Reid from injury and included former Richmond half-forward Mitch Morton for what will be his first Swans game against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
They dropped Trent Dennis-Lane and Tony Armstrong.
The Bulldogs have regained Brownlow Medallist Adam Cooney from a period of knee soreness, with Ryan Griffen, Shaun Higgins, Easton Wood, Lukas Markovic and Ayce Cordy their other inclusions.
Port Adelaide made five changes for Sunday’s home game against West Coast, including losing defender Troy Chaplin (knee) and midfielder Hamish Hartlett (suspension).
The Eagles only change was replacing Tom Swift with Bradd Dalziell.
