Hawk Gibson joins AFL greats in retirement

Hawthorn defender Josh Gibson has joined the long list of AFL stars retiring this season.

The triple-premiership winner, 33, has been sidelined with a groin injury since round 12 and he told a media conference on Tuesday he would not return for a farewell AFL game.

Gibson has played 160 games since 2010 for the Hawks after starting his career at North Melbourne, where he played 65 games.
