Gold Coast have slumped to their fourth straight AFL loss of 2015, thrashed by 66 points in a one-way Anzac Day battle against Greater Western Sydney.

Despite being the youngest of the two expansion teams, the Giants were too quick and powerful for a floundering Suns outfit to win 16.23 (119) to 7.11 (53) at Canberra’s Star Track Oval.

It marked GWS’s biggest victory since joining the competition in 2012 and third of the season, with last round’s narrow loss to cross-town rivals Sydney the only blemish.

The Suns, on the other hand, remain winless.

Young forward Cam McCarthy piled on a massive five goals, taking his tally this year to 13, while talented tall Jeremy Cameron booted four and managed a personal-best 21 disposals.

Shane Mumford and Dylan Shiel again proved pivotal in the Giants’ triumph, the Suns finding no match for the No.1 ruckman and midfielder.

Much like their start against Geelong last week, Gold Coast were quick off the mark – Jack Martin kicking truly from 60m out for the opening goal after two minutes.

But the Giants responded with the next four majors, including a brace to Adam Treloar and an impressive curler from Devon Smith.

The home side owned the first quarter, registering more than double the number of clearances for a 20-point lead.

They let slip two goals early in the second term but, in a similar fashion to the first, fired back with four of their own.

It was GWS’s spread and quick transition that proved too much for the Suns, who were under pressure across the park.

The Giants’ 26-point lead at the main break was their biggest halftime margin since their inception.

The loss of Martin to an ankle injury only compounded the Suns’ woes in the second half, in which they managed just three goals to eight – two coming from returning star Charlie Dixon.

The hosts ended the match with 159 more disposals than the visitors in a dominant display.
