GWS heads to Canberra on Sunday afternoon for a must-win showdown with North Melbourne, their finals hopes hanging by a thread after an 88-point demolition at the hands of the Bulldogs. It was the Giants’ heaviest defeat since the 2019 Grand Final and means they’ll likely need to sweep their final three games to stay in September contention.
North Melbourne should, on paper, be a more forgiving opponent. The Kangaroos have lost six straight, most recently falling to St Kilda by nine points in a dour contest. The Giants also boast recent success in the matchup, having thumped North 121-82 in Round 1 last year, when Jesse Hogan starred with six goals and 13 score involvements.
