After losing to Gold Coast, things don’t appear to be getting any easier for Melbourne over the next month, set to face Richmond, Fremantle, Hawthorn and Collingwood.
In what looms to be a month from hell, online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has opened a market on which one of those games will see them suffer their biggest loss.
Unsurprisingly, current flag favourites Hawthorn are tipped to give them a flogging, priced at $3.25. With their match against Fremantle to be played in Perth, the Dockers are also priced at $3.25 to give the Demons their biggest loss over the next month.
This week’s match against Richmond has been priced at $3.50, while their Queen’s Birthday match against Collingwood is the outsider in the market at $3.75.
“Things look set to go from bad to worse for Melbourne, with their away trip against Fremantle and their clash against the Hawks tipped to inflict even more pain,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
While the Demons still remain a good chance to claim the wooden spoon at $2.75, GWS are firm favourites at $1.40.
In premiership betting the Hawks have firmed from $3.75 to $3.25 to remain flag favourites. However with double the money bet on them compared to Hawthorn, Geelong have also firmed from $4.25 to $3.75.
