Alex Fasolo and Taylor Adams are among five Collingwood changes to their AFL side as Nathan Buckley continues his search for a firing forward combination.
The Magpies head to Greater Western Sydney hoping to maintain a 100 per cent record against the expansion side against the odds.
In doing so, Buckley has opted to field tall timber Travis Cloke, Darcy Moore and Jesse White – as well as Fasolo – inside 50 in a stacked forward line.
American tall Mason Cox makes way as one of five changes for the crunch match.
Buckley said he was particularly pleased to be able to call upon Fasolo and Adams after their spells on the sideline.
“They’ve proven their fitness and … they’re pretty important players for us,” he said.
Cox is being managed for the match after a solid block of matches but a poor return against Carlton last Saturday night.
“He had a quiet game last week but for the most part he’s taken every step pretty well,” Buckley said.
“Part of development into AFL footy is to understand the relentless nature of it. He’s facing that at the moment.”
White returns to the side after making way for Darcy Moore when the young forward suffered a collarbone injury.
Buckley said he was impressed with the maligned forward’s attitude in the reserves.
“Jesse went back and handled his demotion for that week really well. His form over a two-month period has been really strong,” he said.
Brent Macaffer and Jonathon Marsh also come in, with Tyson Goldsack, Marley Williams and Tom Phillips dropped.
The finals-bound Giants return Devon Smith to their side after knee surgery two months ago.
Adam Kennedy, Adam Tomlinson and Jack Steele also return with Ryan Griffen (hamstring), Nathan Wilson (groin), Matt Buntine (hamstring) and Matt Kennedy (omitted) making way.
GWS coach Leon Cameron hailed Smith’s return to the AFL.
“He’s strong. He’s really fit. He makes us a better team because of the pressure he provides in our front half and he’s really keen and eager to make his mark in the back end of the year,” he said.
