Preview:

In only four seasons of the competitions existence there’s already one rule for following the AFLW – Never, ever write off the Brisbane Lions.

Led by young-gun forward and this week’s Rising Star nominee Jesse Wardlaw, the Lions came back from 11 points down at half-time to beat the Cats by 19 points with Wardlaw booting three goals and five unanswered goals in the second half.

The Lions dominated in the inside 50s (39-14) and the likes of Emily Bates (22 disposals) and Sophie Conway also found herself with 15 disposals and eight tackles to her name.

Brisbane have beaten regining premiers Adelaide at Geelong at the Cattery and now sit on top of conference A after many (including us) had written them off at the start of the season due to the mass-player exedious.

It speaks volumes of the coach Craig Starcivich and the Lions AFLW program.

There’s also a lot to like about the Gold Coast Suns AFLW team.

The Suns became the first expansion team to record their historic first win with an 11 point victory over Richmond at Metricon Stadium.

Former Brisbane Lions AFLW player Jamie Stanton was the standout for the Suns with 20 disposals to her name and she did a number on Tigers skipper Katie Brennan.

Two games in and Gold Coast play with a lot of flare and an exciting game style that is fun to watch.

There are a number of ex-Lions in the Suns playing stocks that will be sure to add a bit of spice to this rivalry as well.

Backing the Gold Coast at the line has proven to be successful in the first two rounds and with the line -10.5 in favour of Brisbane who go into the game favourite, I reckon it’s worth having a crack at the Suns to beat it.
